Any idea why my landlord is charging his lawnmower engine in the dead of winter?

Weird.

resolutions January 1, 2008

I’m not really all that consistent with making and keeping New Year’s resolutions.  Two years ago, I made a resolution to floss daily.  And since that time, with one exception, I have flossed every day.  [My missed day was on the day that I flew to Budapest and there was significant jet lag involved].

So this year I will make one proper resolution.  I resolve to take my string market bags with me to the grocery store.  I have them.  I have had them for several years.  I need to use them more frequently.  I think that if I make it a habit of always putting them back in my car when I’m done unpacking my groceries, I will be much more successful with this.

Wish me luck and a happy 2008 to you.

…new yarn!

This morning I woke up early kicking and screaming at my alarm clock, pleading with it to let me continue to cozy-in on this snowy morning. Then I remembered why the alarm clock was screeching in the first place…

Sale at The Fold!! Joy of joy. Wonder of wonders. It was indeed a bit snowier than I (and all the meteorologists in the area, it seems) had anticipated, so it wasn’t the most leisurely of drives. You couldn’t see my white knuckles through my nice felted mittens, but white-knuckled they were. The shop was crowded and I think I heard some hissing, but it was a very nice sale.

Okay – here we have the Stitch n’ Bitch Page-A-Day Calendar, a skein of Socks that Rock medium weight sock yarn, a skein of recycled silk yarn (I believe destined to become a hat), 3 skeins of Classic Elite Yarns Attitude (for nephew’s Norberta, a skein of Trekking XXL, a skein of Trekking pro natura, a odd ball from the free table, 3 sock patterns from the free table, and a very nice, very sturdy bag (also free!). How fun is that!!

Last night I had fun celebrating the new year at my friends’ house. We played a few games (and, just so you know, I’m smarter than a 5th grader) and played with my godson. I was able to get a few pictures of the sweater that I made for him that I forgot to get pictures of before.

I received a Christmas card from an old friend of mine who is moving to Madagascar and said that I should come visit. Little does she suspect that I am seriously thinking of taking her up on that offer… We’ll see.
